About Xairos:

Xairos is building a quantum-enabled Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) system. Our Quantum Time Transfer (QTT) technology delivers sub-nanosecond timing accuracy with resilience to GPS jamming and spoofing. We've partnered with ESA, UKRI, NASA and others to develop this core capability and now we are starting to deliver it to the customers and partners who need it.

Role Overview:

Xairos UK is seeking a Timing Engineer to help deliver the deployment of its Quantum Time Transfer technology. In particular, you will help develop engineering frameworks and architectures as we deploy our timing products in the real world. You will be responsible for maturing system requirements and designs, modelling timing system behaviour and defining test processes for timing systems. Your experience and knowledge in deploying timing systems will shape our timing validation strategy.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver full cycle systems engineering activities for Xairos’ core QTT product, including development of satellite-based timing systems.

  • Responsible for driving forward the wider engineering team timing capability by leading metrology and test activities.

What You Need:

  • Experience in systems engineering of clocks or other timing systems.

  • Project manager mindset - good stakeholder communication, planning, and risk management capabilities.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with quantum technology, optical communication systems, or timing synchronisation systems.

  • Experience with electrical engineering and/or FPGA programming.

  • Postgraduate qualification in Physics/Engineering.

  • Experience in technical leadership, and mentoring and developing knowledge within a team.

Who We're After:

  • Results driven – you can adapt to deliver.

  • Resilient problem-solvers – people who can collaborate to deliver solutions to complex, technical problems.

  • Good planning, stakeholder management, and risk awareness.

  • Innovate at pace – engineers who can rapidly convert their ideas into execution.

Why Xairos:

We're a small team working on a problem that genuinely matters. Telecoms, HPC, finance and defence all depend on precise, resilient timing as an alternative to GNSS. You will join a pioneering team working on cutting edge space-based systems. Our work is being recognised: the World Economic Forum named Xairos a Top Innovator in Quantum.

If you’re a quantum scientist or engineer and you thrive in fast paced, technically sophisticated environments, we’d love to hear from you.

Remuneration:

Base Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 doe.

Employee Equity Scheme: Share in the company’s growth and success.

Company Pension

Additional Perks: Flexible working arrangements, professional development support, and wellbeing initiatives.
